This is personally one of my favorite poems about nature haha :-) it's about the poet's memory of daffodils; a bulbous plant with yellow flowers.

The poem above generally speaks about music, its sources, and its ability to brighten life.

2) Detailed meaning

The poem above desribes how cheerful music is loves by people of all ages, and how it does not only speak about beautiful objects -- but it also potrays despair, sadness, and all negative aspects of society. The poem stresses that music, or even simple singing is the main key and remedy.

3) Intention

Emerson's purpose in writing the above poem is to entertain readers and to reflect / express his own feelings about music.

4) Poetic devices

A. Alliteration is the repetition of initial consonant sounds. it is used in the first stanza and second stanza, in words of "From all that's Fair, From all that is Foul" and the phrase "something sings".

B. Assonance is the same as alliteration, except with vowel sounds. Usage : phrases "it is".

C. Imagery is the usage of words or phrases that appeal to senses. Usage : cheerful, darkest, meanest, sings, mellow, smiles.

D. Personification is the figure of speech that lets inhuman objects to have human traits. Usage : peals out a cheerful song, rainbow glows, bow that smiles.

E. The point of view is the third person (Emerson describes an object).

F. Repetition : Phrases such as "It sounds.." (first stanza), "It is not only..." and "Not in the.." (second and third stanzas), and words such as "always, always" are considered as repetition.

G. Rhyme is the usage of same sounds in the end of each line. The rhyme scheme of the above poem is regular, which is A-A-B-C-B-D (first stanza) and A-B-A-B-C-C (second and third stanzas).

H. The amount of stanzas are 3, with 6 lines in each stanza.

Appreciation -- the above poem has excellent poetic devices that cooperate to form a great epitome or literary work. The author's intention on spreading his opinions about music successfully touches the readers.
